'How Did I Get Here?' is almost here.
For fans of Louis Tomlinson the past 3 years have been a whirlwind of shows, love and laughter. Louis as an artist is unique in the way that he always counts fans as helping him to get to where he is and never discredits the work of his fans in finding clues, figuring out riddles and making album releases fun.
Louis himself has succeeded despite industry pushback, poor radio play and PR/ marketing that leaves a lot to be desired. In fact, Louis himself credits much of his success to his fans and if you ever venture onto Twitter or X as it’s now called, you’ll see fans vociferously backing Louis and sharing their love for him and his songs.
Louis' lyricism is incredible and touching, right from his One Direction roots where he penned 38 of their songs and had lyrics that spoke to fans and got them excited. No Control is a perfect example of how Louis' lyrical genius still invigorates fans to this day. When No Control began at Away From Home 2025 it brought the love, nostalgia and electricity of the 1D days into the present and while Louis stated he won’t play it again, fans like me hope and pray that he does because it was incredible to see him hark back to 1D with a song that fans loved then and still love now.
Louis is an incredible song writer and his lyrics from Walls to FITF to the songs we’ve heard from the new album show his growth as a musician but also show the growth of his confidence as an artist. Fans loved the boppy, fun, summer anthem of Lemonade, but if you take a deeper look at the lyrics- it takes you to a place of a toxic relationship where he’s being made to lie and feels like nothing more than his lover’s lucky charm. Following this with Palaces where he escapes that toxicity in his mind and lives in his daydream in the palace he creates in his mind is amazing and Palaces is an incredibly anthemic tune that wouldn’t be out of place in Faith in The Future.
Louis next single is Imposter which tells the story of how Louis feels like an imposter in his own relationship. The song seems incredible but as it’s not out until Monday, fans will have to wait to see how this song hits to be certain, but it certainly is telling that Lemonade has ‘the way she’s making me lie’ to Palaces ‘you can stay for the night in the palaces of my mind’ to Imposters ‘ I think there’s a stranger in my bed… I am the Imposter…’
Louis tells how Imposter is an ode to how he feels in the music industry but if you listen closely to his lyrics they tell a story of a man who’s being used and having to create an imaginary world to escape and fans are drawn to this imagery. Louis paints such a picture with his lyrics and his talent that you can’t help to see the stories he tells as visual and emotive beings. His songs stand alone and while they are different to the other 1D artists they tell a similar story to the others who went through the band like him, if you care to listen.
Many fans of Louis were irritated and annoyed at Harry Styles for coming back and announcing his album release date right in the midst of Louis final promo push for How Did I Get Here, but if those fans actually paid attention they’d see that this actually caused an upkick in promotion for Louis because Harry’s comeback has been so long anticipated and has been talked about over the past two years almost monthly.
Louis’ solo fans were quick to get angry at Harry, but Zayn also teased new music and Niall has had a few collabs come out that have been incredibly well received, however the glaring gap left by the loss of Liam cannot be filled. Some fans want the boys to reunite, but to many other fans it wouldn’t feel right to watch One Direction reunite without Liam, unless it was for a tribute or a one off show, but even still Liam was the heart of the One Direction fans and many, like myself are still reeling from his loss and will never stop missing him.
Liam would be so happy for his boys though and would, of course, be sharing and bigging up their projects because he loved loudly, so when you do see the boys this year, share a bit more love, shout a bit more loudly and love a bit more freely because we all should be more Liam and love the boys extra hard in his absence.
Louis’ tour is coming up, Zayn is in his residencies this month and we should show them how very loved they are. Zayn’s shows are mellow, with his stunning voice carrying fans out of this world and blowing us away with his talent. Louis shows are loud, fun, full of love and acceptance and pride flags. During his shows you wouldn’t be out of place in a sea of pride flags with rainbow lights bathing you from the stage and many fans of all ages, stages and places feel comforted and welcome at Louis' shows.
How Did We Get Here? will be a tour to remember and if you are in doubt about attending a Louis show, comment or DM myself or any Louis fan. You can go alone, but you’ll meet friends for life in his fandom and you’ll enjoy all the memories you make. His electric set list, amazing, amazing band including the incredible Isaac Anderson, Michael Blackwell and more will blow your mind as they rock on stage with him, giving you an amazing concert experience and wonderful night that will stay with you long after the show is finished.
Louis is strong, resilient and down to earth but that’s not all he is. He’s talented, wickedly funny and so electric on stage while performing that not seeing him at each show as a fan always feels like missing out because each show is unique and each moment extraordinary and I for one, cannot wait to hear his new album, scream his new lyrics back at him and watch him grow and thrive as he should.
Every bit of Louis' success has been hard fought and won against an industry that quite literally turned its back on him so to see him getting mainstream support now feels bittersweet because he should have had it all along. Instead of radio stations refusing to play Bigger Than Me or Silver tongues (which I hope will still close out the shows), they should have been happy to play him, but politics behind the scenes and prejudices that are only just ending have a lot to answer for.
He did get a number one album with Faith in the Future despite the radio blockade so lets how this time with the actual marketing and PR he’s been getting that this album does just as well and his last and the general public get to know Louis as an artist instead of a stupid headline about his private life or how he’s connected to Harry. It’s his music that should stand alone, but if people haven’t heard it and base their opinions of him based on the absolute nonsense that’s out there in the press about him then they’ll miss out on the incredible, incredible talent he is because of preconceived notions and biases that have nothing to do with who Louis is as a person and everything to do with the narratives sold about him in the mainstream media.
Remember the lyrics by Devlin, an album that Louis himself shared, “media lies, they manipulate the truth…” which Louis also alluded to in Just Like You “you only get half of the story” and the video showed multiple articles cut into it with stories from various artists over the years.
All in all, let’s show Louis our support, stop hating on the other 1D members especially in light of Liam’s loss and share the love with each other. We’re all here to support our faves but supporting them doesn’t mean you have to be hateful to the others who they are not in competition with but who, in fact, are loved deeply by Louis. Let’s all share our love for Louis, share his music, his talent and his incredible songs everywhere and let’s celebrate the fact we have new music because for Liam’s fans that won’t be the case ever again.
We love you Louis and wish every single bit of success with HDIGH- go out and smash it love and we’ll be there at the shows sharing the love and singing along with you.
Always your fans
